Chapter 4 - The Vote at Midnight

Gabriel broke after Caleb showed him the recovered succession documents.
The trust named Jenna as co-heir.
Gabriel would become temporary trustee only if both siblings were unable to serve.
He had built the weapons case to remove Dominic.
He planned to kill Jenna after securing control.
“Where is Isabella?” Dominic asked.
“At the old Calumet terminal.”
“Why work with her?”
“She wanted revenge against your father.”
“And you?”
“I wanted what I earned.”
Dominic stared at him.
“You earned nothing.”
Gabriel laughed bitterly.
“I raised you. I protected you. I turned your father’s chaos into an empire.”
“You turned my name into a shield.”
Claire placed a recorder on the table.
“Say it clearly.”
Gabriel looked at her.
“You think numbers make you brave?”
“No. Evidence does.”
He confessed to the false invoices, weapons shipments, Jenna’s kidnapping, and the plan to seize the trust.
Federal agents waited outside the building.
Dominic had contacted them after Claire forced him to choose between vengeance and proof.
At eleven-thirty, they entered the Calumet terminal.
Isabella stood on the loading platform with Jenna beside her.
Jenna’s hands were tied.
“You came with police,” Isabella said.
Dominic answered, “I came with witnesses.”
“You sound legitimate.”
“I am trying.”
She laughed.
“Your father killed mine.”
“I know.”
“He destroyed my family.”
“And Gabriel used your anger.”
Isabella pressed a gun against Jenna’s side.
“Do not speak as though we are alike.”
Claire stepped forward.
“Isabella, Gabriel planned to betray you.”
“Stay back.”
“He transferred the terminal ownership yesterday.”
“To me.”
“To a shell company controlled by federal informants.”
Isabella’s face changed.
Claire held up the document.
“He wanted you arrested here.”
Dominic added, “Then he would blame the weapons on Moretti operations.”
Isabella looked toward the containers.
“You are lying.”
Claire read the transaction number.
Isabella recognized it.
Her grip loosened.
Jenna twisted away.
Caleb fired once, striking Isabella’s shoulder.
Agents moved in.
The terminal filled with shouting.
Dominic reached Jenna first.
She stared at him.
“Who are you?”
He stopped.
“I am your brother.”
She laughed through tears.
“That is not funny.”
“No.”
Claire cut the restraints.
Jenna looked at her.
“Did you know?”
“Not until tonight.”
Dominic said, “Our father hid you.”
“My mother told me my father was dead.”
“He is.”
“Good.”
The answer wounded him, but he accepted it.
At midnight, the Valenti board convened under emergency order.
Federal agents occupied the lobby.
Gabriel’s confession played before the directors.
Then the succession trust was presented.
Jenna owned forty percent of the voting shares.
Dominic owned forty-five.
The remaining fifteen belonged to employee and charitable trusts.
The chairman asked Jenna, “How do you vote regarding Mr. Valenti’s continued control?”
Every face turned toward her.
Jenna looked at Dominic.
“I do not know him.”
“That is fair,” he said.
“I do know his company kidnapped me.”
“That is also fair.”
Claire spoke quietly.
“The company is not one person.”
Jenna looked at her.
“What do you recommend?”
“Independent oversight. Shared control. Full disclosure.”
Dominic said, “I agree.”
The board approved a temporary restructuring.
Dominic kept leadership but lost unilateral authority.
Jenna became co-chair after accepting independent counsel.
Gabriel was removed and arrested.
One final secret remained.

Antonio Valenti’s original letter to Jenna had never been found.
Dominic needed to know whether his father had hidden her from danger—or from shame.
