Chapter 2 - The Shocking UnveilingThe echo of Victoria Sterling’s high heels against the marble floor was the only sound that cut through the heavy silence of the lobby. Victoria, the undisputed queen of the city’s high society and the daughter of the hotel board's vice-chairman, dusted off her white silk sleeves with an expression of intense disgust. She looked down at Charlotte, who was struggling to push herself up from the cold floor, her palms bleeding onto the pristine tiles.

“Call security,” Victoria commanded, her voice piercing the air. “Have this trash thrown into the street where she belongs. And clean this floor immediately—her blood is ruining the esthetic.”
The hotel staff, terrified of Victoria’s influence, scrambled to obey. Two heavy-set security guards rushed forward, reaching to grab Charlotte by the arms. But before their hands could touch her, a cold, authoritative voice boomed from the private executive elevator.
“Touch her, and you will be fired before your feet hit the pavement.”
Every eye in the lobby swung toward the sound. Stepping out of the elevator was Julian Vance, the formidable CEO of the Solmere Group, flanked by six personal bodyguards and the hotel’s Chief Legal Officer. Julian’s expression was thunderous, his eyes locked not on Victoria, but on the bleeding young woman sitting on the floor.
Victoria smiled, putting on a delicate, helpless facade as she walked toward Julian. “Julian, thank goodness you’re here! This vagrant somehow snuck past the front gate and tried to cause a scene. I was just taking care of it before she bothered any of your VIP guests.”
Julian ignored Victoria entirely. He walked straight past her, kneeling on the hard marble right in front of Charlotte. Without hesitation, he pulled a silk handkerchief from his breast pocket and gently pressed it against the wound on her lip.
“Miss Vale,” Julian said, his voice carrying clearly across the quiet lobby, audible to every guest, board member, and staff member standing nearby. “I apologize for this unforgivable failure of security. Welcome to the Solmere Hotel.”
A collective gasp swept through the crowd. Victoria’s smile froze, turning into a mask of utter confusion and anger.
“Julian, what are you talking about?” Victoria demanded, her voice rising an octave. “Miss Vale? She’s a nobody! Look at her clothes! She’s a trespasser!”
Julian stood up slowly, turning to face Victoria. His eyes were cold as ice. “The woman you just assaulted, Miss Sterling, holds ninety-one percent of the founder’s shares of the Solmere International Corporation. She is the daughter of our late founder, Eleanor Vale. And as of midnight yesterday, upon reaching her twenty-fifth birthday, she is the sole legal owner of this hotel and every asset under the Solmere name.”
The room went dead silent. Guests pulled out their phones, taking photos and recording videos. Victoria backed away, her face turning pale as she realized the massive mistake she had made in front of dozens of high-society witnesses.

Charlotte stood up slowly, wiping the blood from her cheek. Though her clothes were simple and her body bruised, her posture straightened, radiating an undeniable power that left the entire lobby breathless.
“Victoria Sterling,” Charlotte said softly, her voice steady and lethal. “You told me people like me don’t belong here. But starting today, this entire empire answers to me. And your family’s time here is officially over.”
