Chapter 3 - The Conspiracy UnfoldsAn hour later, the private top-floor suite of the Solmere Hotel was sealed off. Julian had brought in a private medical team to tend to Charlotteâs cuts and bruises while his legal team secured the building's digital surveillance network.

Sitting on a leather armchair, draped in a plush bathrobe, Charlotte looked at the documents spread across the glass coffee table. Julian stood nearby, delivering a detailed briefing on the internal situation of the company.
âYour motherâs death six months ago was officially ruled as a heart attack,â Julian explained, placing a thick folder in front of her. âBut the moment she passed, the boardâled by Victoriaâs father, Arthur Sterlingâattempted to fast-track a restructuring clause. They claimed you were mentally unfit to inherit, citing forged psychiatric records.â
Charlotte looked up, her eyes hard. âThey didnât just forge records, Julian. They tried to eliminate me. Three weeks ago, the brake lines on my car were cut. Thatâs why I went into hiding. Thatâs why I let them believe I had fled the country in fear. I needed time to gather the hard evidence.â
She pulled a encrypted flash drive from her pocket and placed it on the table.
âThis contains the transaction logs,â Charlotte said. âArthur Sterling has been siphoning funds from the hotelâs reserve accounts into offshore shell companies in the Caymans. He wasnât just trying to take over the companyâheâs been bankrupting it from the inside out to force a public buyout.â
Julianâs jaw tightened. âIf this gets out to the press before the annual shareholder meeting tomorrow, the stock will plummet.â
âLet it plummet,â Charlotte replied coldly. âBecause tomorrow, at nine in the morning, I am walking into that board meeting. Arthur Sterling thinks heâs going to be named Permanent Chairman tomorrow. Instead, heâs going to watch his entire lifeâs work crumble.â

Suddenly, the suite door opened, and Julianâs assistant stepped in, looking pale. âMr. Vance, Miss Vale... we have a problem. Arthur Sterling has just called an emergency press conference in the main ballroom downstairs. Heâs claiming that an impostor is posing as Charlotte Vale to extort the company, and heâs called the local authorities to have Miss Vale arrested immediately.â
Charlotte smiled faintly, standardizing her resolve. âHeâs desperate. He knows Iâm in the building. Good. Let him bring the police and the cameras. It saves me the trouble of inviting them.â
