Chapter 8 - The Fall of the EmpireâYouâre bluffing!â Marcus growled, his cool exterior finally cracking. He gestured to his armed guards. âSecure her! Get the scan by force!â

Before the guards could raise their weapons, headlights suddenly pierced through the heavy fog surrounding the docks. Six black SUVs roared onto the pier, blocking all escape routes. Dozens of heavily armed federal law enforcement officers poured out, laser sights training directly on Marcus and his men.
âFederal agents! Drop your weapons! Hands where we can see them!â a voice boomed over a loudspeaker.
Marcusâs guards immediately dropped their weapons and raised their hands in the air, realizing they were completely surrounded. Victoria collapsed to her knees, crying uncontrollably as the reality of her total ruin set in.
Julian stepped between Charlotte and Marcus, his eyes fixed on his uncle. âItâs over, Marcus. The moment you used that override code in the hotel yesterday, the automated system notified the authorities. Charlotte didnât just set a trap tonightâshe let you lead us right to your location.â
Marcus stood frozen, looking at Charlotte with a mix of shock and bitter realization. âShe planned this... from the moment she walked into the lobby.â
âI let Victoria drag me across that floor,â Charlotte said coldly, stepping closer to Marcus as the federal agents moved in to handcuff him. âI let everyone think I was weak, helpless, and beaten. Because when arrogant people think theyâve won, they become sloppy. You were so busy watching me fall that you never noticed the net closing around you.â
As the agents led Marcus Vance away in chains, he turned back to look at Charlotte one last time. âYou are truly Eleanorâs daughter,â he whispered.
Charlotte stood on the edge of the pier, watching the police lights fade into the night fog. Julian walked up beside her, placing a warm coat over her shoulders.

âItâs really over,â Julian said softly. âThe board is clean, the criminals are behind bars, and your familyâs legacy is secure.â
Charlotte looked out over the dark water of the harbor, feeling a profound sense of peace for the first time in months. âNo, Julian. Itâs not over. Itâs just beginning.â
