Chapter 6 - The Unseen MastermindThe discovery of the empty safe sent shockwaves through Charlotteâs circle of allies. The realization that someone had bypassed the high-security clearance of Eleanor Valeâs private office meant the conspirators had access at the highest levelâsomeone who was still inside the inner circle.

Charlotte immediately ordered a full audit of all security access logs for the past forty-eight hours. Julian worked beside her through the night, cross-referencing staff movements, keycard access records, and closed-circuit television footage.
At 3:00 AM, Julian found the anomaly.
âLook at this,â Julian said, pointing to a computer monitor showing the access logs for the top-floor private elevator. âThe floor was accessed late last night using a master override code that hasn't been used in five years.â
âWhose code is it?â Charlotte asked, leaning over his shoulder.
âIt belongs to Marcus Vance,â Julian said softly, his voice trembling slightly. âMy uncle... the co-founder of Solmere who allegedly retired to Europe ten years ago.â
Charlotte turned to look at Julian, her eyes wide with shock. âMarcus Vance? Heâs been living in Switzerland for a decade. Why would his master key be active in this hotel yesterday?â
Before Julian could answer, his phone chimed with a private encrypted text message. He looked down at the screen, his face draining of color. He showed the phone to Charlotte.
The message read: âBring the girl to the old docks on the east side of the city. Come alone, or the international holdings of Solmere will be liquidated before sunrise.â
Charlotte felt a chill run down her spine. The true scale of the conspiracy was far larger than a simple battle for control of a luxury hotel. The international holdingsâthe true core of the Vale familyâs global wealthâwere held in an overseas trust that could only be accessed with a combination of Charlotteâs biometric key and the founderâs master passcodes, which Marcus Vance had stolen from the safe.
âIt was never just about taking the hotel,â Charlotte realized, her voice cold and resolute. âArthur Sterling was just the distraction. Marcus used Arthur to draw my attention while he stole the master key files.â

âYou canât go to the docks, Charlotte,â Julian said firmly, grabbing her shoulders. âItâs a trap. Marcus is dangerous. He eliminated his own partners twenty years ago to build this empire.â
âIf I donât go, he destroys everything my mother built,â Charlotte replied, looking Julian straight in the eyes. âWe arenât going to play his game, Julian. Weâre going to change the rules.â
