Chapter 5 - The Empty Vault

Across town, in a rented townhouse they had managed to secure on a friend's credit card, the Sterlings were panicking.

Julian was frantically logging into his offshore banking portal on his laptop. "Come on, come on..." he muttered, sweating through his shirt.

"Did you get in?" Arthur demanded, pacing the floor. "We need capital to hire a defense team. Alexander is going to try to sue us into oblivion."

"Access Denied," Julian read the red text on the screen, his voice cracking. "Dad... it's all gone. The offshore accounts, the emergency funds. Everything."

"How is that possible?!" Arthur roared, throwing his scotch glass against the wall.

Because I knew their passwords. Five years of managing their books, fixing their mistakes, and hiding their incompetence meant I knew every dirty secret they had. Before the gala even started, I had legally transferred the remaining liquid assets they owed me into an escrow account.

They weren't just poor. They were heavily in debt.
