Leah had been told her father, Marcus Morgan, died owing money after years as a Harrington driver.
The ledger showed something different.
Marcus had organized payroll contributions, negotiated the resident trust and held thirty percent only as temporary protection until every worker family could be located.
Victoria laughed.
“So the server accusing us of greed inherited more property than anyone in this room.”
Leah looked at her.
“My father held it for workers. That does not make it mine.”
Charles revealed Marcus disappeared after refusing to transfer the shares to Harrington Development.
Ethan asked why Charles had never exposed the truth.
“I tried,” Charles said. “Your grandfather threatened to evict three hundred retired workers in one week.”
Mrs. Harrington replied, “So you chose secrecy and let us live inside their stolen gratitude.”
Leah requested an independent receiver rather than accepting control.
Then a probate attorney arrived with Marcus’s death certificate.
